Snow Leopard

Panthera uncia

The snow leopard is one of the world's most elusive big cats, perfectly adapted to life in the harsh mountain environments of Central Asia. Known as the "ghost of the mountains," this magnificent predator is rarely seen even by researchers who dedicate their lives to studying it. With its thick, smoky-grey fur spotted with dark rosettes, a long thick tail for balance, and large furry paws that act as natural snowshoes, the snow leopard is a masterpiece of evolutionary adaptation.
