Shoebill on the Mabamba Swamp
Canoe silently through channels of papyrus before sunrise. The shoebill — part heron, part gargoyle, wholly itself — watches you from a tussock of floating vegetation, unblinking.
African Finfoot & Pelican on Lake Mburo
A slow boat along the lakeshore turns up the secretive African finfoot slipping under overhanging figs, white pelicans riding thermals, and hippos surfacing close enough to hear their breath.
Albertine Endemics in Bwindi Forest
Bwindi holds more endemic bird species than any other forest in East Africa. With Enock leading, you search for the African green broadbill, Shelley's crimsonwing, and the handsome francolin along the Munyaga River trail.

Raptors Over the Rift Valley Escarpment
Driving south from Lake Mburo toward Bwindi, the road crosses the escarpment edge. Augur buzzards hang in the updraft; a martial eagle pins a monitor lizard far below in the valley.
Small-Camp Morning Walks
At Kigezi Highland Camp, guides lead a short walk through the montane farmland buffer before the day heats up. Red-throated alethe and white-tailed crested flycatcher appear within the first hundred metres.

Day 1
Arrival in Entebbe
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, an Arrive Africa Safaris representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy an optional visit to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, a renowned birding hotspot located along the shores of Lake Victoria. The gardens host a variety of bird species, including hornbills, weavers, kingfishers, and sunbirds. Dinner and overnight stay in Entebbe.

Day 2
Mabamba Wetland Birding Excursion – Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After an early breakfast, depart for Mabamba Wetland, one of Uganda's most celebrated birdwatching sites and the best location to search for the iconic Shoebill Stork. Explore the wetland by traditional canoe as your expert birding guide helps you identify a variety of species, including papyrus gonoleks, jacanas, kingfishers, herons, egrets, and African fish eagles. After the birding excursion, continue to Lake Mburo National Park, enjoying scenic views of rolling hills, rural villages, and expansive landscapes along the way. Arrive in the late afternoon and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3
Full-Day Birdwatching in Lake Mburo National Park
Spend the day exploring the diverse habitats of Lake Mburo National Park, including savannah grasslands, acacia woodlands, wetlands, and lakeshores. The park is home to more than 350 bird species and is one of the best places in Uganda to spot the rare Red-faced Barbet. Other notable species include the African Finfoot, Narina Trogon, African Fish Eagle, Crested Francolin, Papyrus Yellow Warbler, and Ross's Turaco. Enjoy a game drive as part of your birding experience, with opportunities to see zebras, impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, and elands. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's finest forest birding destinations. Enjoy a scenic drive through southwestern Uganda, passing rolling hills, terraced farms, and vibrant local communities. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon and settle in before enjoying an optional guided bird walk around the lodge grounds. Bwindi is home to over 350 bird species, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics, making it a must-visit destination for serious birders. Dinner and overnight stay.

Full-Day Birdwatching in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today is dedicated to exploring the rich birdlife of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Accompanied by an experienced birding guide, venture along forest trails in search of some of Africa's most sought-after species. Highlights may include the African Green Broadbill, Shelley’s Crimsonwing, Handsome Francolin, African Emerald Cuckoo, Grauer's Rush Warbler, Rwenzori Batis, and the elusive African Pitta. The forest's incredible biodiversity and dense canopy provide a truly unforgettable birdwatching experience. In the afternoon, you may choose to continue birding, enjoy a nature walk, or visit nearby communities for a cultural experience.
Return to the lodge for a farewell dinner and overnight stay.

Return to Entebbe and Departure Drag
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Entebbe, enjoying scenic views of Uganda’s countryside along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a final stop to purchase souvenirs before being transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight. Depart with unforgettable memories of Uganda’s remarkable birdlife and natural beauty.
