Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional guide from Arrive Africa Safaris. After a short safari briefing, you will be transferred to Peponi Living Spaces for check-in and some time to relax after your journey.

Later, enjoy a guided tour of Kigali, one of Africa's cleanest and safest cities. Visit some of the city's historical and cultural attractions, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, art galleries, and museums. These visits provide valuable insight into Rwanda's history, resilience, and remarkable transformation. In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay as you prepare for the adventures ahead.

After an early breakfast, depart Kigali and drive to Volcanoes National Park, home to one of the world's largest populations of endangered mountain gorillas. Upon arrival at the park headquarters, attend a briefing conducted by Rwanda Development Board park rangers. You will receive important information about gorilla trekking rules, safety procedures, and conservation efforts before being assigned to a habituated gorilla family.

Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, venture into the lush rainforest in search of these magnificent primates. Depending on the location of the gorilla family, the trek may last between 2 and 6 hours. Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they feed, groom one another, care for their young, and interact naturally within their family group. This extraordinary wildlife encounter is often described as one of Africa's most memorable safari experiences.

After the trek, transfer to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Enjoy breakfast before returning to Volcanoes National Park for another exciting primate adventure. Today you will track the rare golden monkeys, an endangered species found only in the Virunga Mountains. After spending time observing the golden monkeys in their natural habitat, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit a nearby community for an authentic cultural experience. Meet local residents, learn about traditional Rwandan customs and daily life, and participate in activities such as traditional dancing, basket weaving, storytelling, and local craft demonstrations. This community visit provides an opportunity to appreciate Rwanda's rich cultural heritage while supporting local tourism initiatives that contribute to conservation and community development. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart Volcanoes National Park and travel east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda's only savannah national park and home to the famous Big Five. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before setting out on an exciting afternoon game drive through the park's diverse landscapes of open grasslands, wetlands, woodlands, and rolling hills.

Keep your camera ready as you search for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, warthogs, and numerous bird species. With a little luck, you may also spot lions and leopards roaming the park. Your experienced safari guide will share fascinating information about the park's wildlife, ecosystems, and successful conservation programs that have restored Akagera into one of East Africa's emerging safari destinations. Later, check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, enjoy a memorable boat safari on Lake Ihema, the second-largest lake in Rwanda and one of the highlights of Akagera National Park. Cruise along the peaceful waters while observing large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles basking along the shoreline, and an incredible variety of water birds, including African fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, cormorants, and African jacanas.

The boat safari offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and a unique perspective of Akagera's rich ecosystems. After the cruise, begin your journey back to Kigali. If your departure schedule allows, you may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or stop at a local craft market to purchase handmade souvenirs before your guide transfers you to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight.
