Route 1, Iceland's famous Ring Road, circles the entire island in 1,332 kilometers. Most travelers complete it by car in a week. We chose to do it by bicycle, taking two weeks to fully immerse ourselves in Iceland's otherworldly landscapes. From volcanic deserts to glacier-carved fjords, every pedal stroke revealed something new.

Cycling the Ring Road: Iceland
Two weeks circumnavigating Iceland by bicycle
July 10, 2024 - July 24, 2024•3 days•1,400 km•Challenging
Day by Day
We departed Reykjavik under grey skies, cycling through suburban sprawl before the road opened up to reveal our first Icelandic vistas. The Golden Circle region welcomed us with glimpses of Þingvellir in the distance. We arrived in Selfoss windswept but exhilarated.
